Second team project I worked on as a character animator during my third and final year at Side Academy. It allowed me to further improve my skills and learn a lot more about body mechanics and parenting in dynamic motion.
Responsible for:
- camera layouts
- pre-vis
- character keyframe animation
- shot-sculpting (corrective blendshapes)
I worked on this team project with my classmates during the third and final year at Side Academy. It was very fun and challenging at the same time, but gave me the opportunity to learn and improve a lot on body mechanics and dynamic movements.
Here is the edited clip with the shots I worked on as a character animator, especially regarding Ezio Auditore jumping and Silvio running away from him. The leaping scene was particularly challenging, but very rewarding once it was finished.
This animation breakdown shows the different stages of the workflow I followed during this project, from the study of the original reference material right to the polished stage of the animation.
The new aspect of this team work was the shot-sculpting, a process that allowed me to correct deformations and other unwanted effects through the use of corrective blendshapes in Maya. It is one of the funniest and most satisfying parts of the workflow.
